Police Impounds 7 Trucks Loaded with Logs Over Flouting Ebola Directives

Police in Kassanda district have impounded seven trucks loaded with logs on accusations of flouting guidelines intended to control the spread of Ebola Virus Disease

Assistant Superintendent of Police, Racheal Kawala, the Wamala regional police spokesperson, said the trucks were impounded at Kikandwa Sub-county heading to Kampala yet president Yoweri Museveni directive restricts movement outside Mubende and Kassanda districts.

Museveni has kept Mubende and Kassanda districts under lockdown since October in order to contain Ebola spread. Ebola has so far killed more than 50 people in the country majorly in Mubende and Kassanda districts.

ASP Kawala has identified the impounded vehicles as UAE 481B, KCK trailer 251V, UBH 680N TATA, UBL 774J TATA, UBM 624B TATA and UBH 350V Fuso.

“Our operations to implement the presidential guidelines against the fight of Ebola are still ongoing in the districts of Kassanda and Mubende. We however urge members of the public to comply with the directives put in place,” ASP Kawala said.

Museveni in his fourth Ebola address on Tuesday warned Bodaboda riders against defying the guidelines intended to control the spread of contagious disease.
