Police have recovered three suspected stolen motorcycles and arrested two suspects in an operation that began in Wakiso District and led officers to a parking yard in Mityana District.
The operation followed information received by police in Wakiso on October 20, 2026, at about 6pm, indicating that a motorcycle suspected to have been stolen was being dismantled at Bulenga B Village, Ssumbwe Parish.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Rachael Kawala, officers responded to the information and arrested Kitandwe Apollo, 39, a boda boda rider and resident of Kikkaya Village in Wakiso District.
Kawala said Kitandwe was allegedly found dismantling motorcycle registration number UFH 287P, whose headlamp guard and front number plate had already been removed.
“Two suspected fake number plates, registration numbers UFU 063X and UFZ 112P, were also recovered at the scene,” Kawala said. She added that during interrogation, the suspect led police to a parking yard in Wabigalo, Mityana District, where two additional motorcycles, registration numbers UMA 878BD and UGB 115D, were recovered.
Police also arrested Tamale Patrick, who is suspected of being an accomplice in the alleged motorcycle theft operation. The two suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue. Kawala said police are working to establish the ownership of the recovered motorcycles and determine whether the suspects are linked to other motorcycle theft cases in the area.
Police have not yet disclosed the identities of the motorcycles’ owners or the circumstances under which the motorcycles were allegedly stolen. The suspects remain under investigation, and the allegations against them have not been proved in court.
