Police have recovered 78 stolen motorcycles in an operation targeting serial robbers in areas of Salama Road, Kibuye and Katwe.
The operation was spearheaded by Katwe Division Police Commander -DPC David Kamugira leading to the arrest of Kato who is one of the serial motorcycle robbers in Kampala City and it’s outskirts.
Kamugira in a brief statement shared to his colleagues and superiors explained that the notorious robbers like Kato and others that have been apprehended during the operation reside in places like Ndejje and Ggaba.
Police said the 10 suspects now behind bars waiting to be charged in court confessed to have been stealing, dismantling and selling the motorcycles as spare parts to traders in Katwe and Kibuye.
At the end of the operation, the suspects led police to the traders who buy their stolen motorcycles. Many of the motorcycles that had earlier been reported stolen were found in shops as spareparts.
