Denis Nsubuga 32, a man whom police were hunting for allegedly killing his wife Annet Nasaka 30, has committed suicide. Nsubuga and Nasaka, who was also commonly known as Nnalongo, were residents of the Kanala zone, Bunamwaya Division, Wakiso District.

Nasaka’s murder was detected by neighbours who got concerned after hearing the child crying continuously inside the house yet the mother often moved with her to work in Kisigula where she operated a mobile money shop.

Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy Kampala metropolitan police commander, said the neighbours checked and noticed the house was locked. This made the idea of rescuing the child impossible. The neighbours informed the local leaders who in turn alerted the Police.

“Upon arrival at the scene, the Police discovered the body of Nalongo lying in the bathroom and it is believed that she was murdered. It is alleged that the deceased had long-standing domestic issues with her husband and the local leaders have been aware and on different occasions, they had intervened,” Owoyesigyire said.

At the time Nasaka’s body was discovered on Monday, Nsubuga was on the run. However, police have since established that Nsubuga returned in the might to the area and committed suicide near his home. Thus, the couple has perished within two days apart and left the innocent a total orphan.
