Three people have been arrested in clandestine security operation at Abaita Ababiri, Katabi town council, Entebbe division, in Wakiso district, for robbing a gun from a GKO security guard deployed at National Water offices.
Patrick Onyango the Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson, said the trio; Onen Can Peter, Lukori Samuel, and Orio Calvin spent over a week attempting to convince the guard to participate in their robbery but security agencies were instead tipped about the move.
“The plan was being organized by three robbers identified as, Intelligence revealed that, the three thugs had been regularly approaching the informant who is a security guard of GKO for a period of about a week convincing him that there is a hot deal that he needed to participate in and would make a lot of money. All plans were made on how the gun would be robbed as well as the date,” Onyango said.
Onyango said a team of intelligence together with operations acted on the intelligence and covert deployment was made to counter the robbers. Police said at around 0300hrs, the three robbers attacked with the aim of robbing the gun but they were all arrested. Police have since taken the gun the trio was robbing and also detained them at Entebbe police station.
