The Kira division police have arrested Ivan Kyagulanyi and three others on allegations of stealing coffee beans.
Others arrested include Jackson Wandera, Jackson Atuhire and Abubakar Kisoma who are all residents of Kuwanga in Mukono district.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson, said the quartet parked their Lorry Isuzu UAB 269D at Bilamu coffee factory located at Button, Bweyogerere division, Kira Municipality, Wakiso district.
Owoyesigyire said the suspects broke the store’s door and then started loading sacks of coffee beans.
But the vigilant neighbours wondered why coffee was being loaded at 10pm and they alerted police.
Even though police arrested Kyagulanyi, Kisoma, Wandera and Atuhire, it did not manage to apprehend the driver who fled the scene after seeing men in uniform.
Owoyesigyire identified the driver as Medi a resident of Kazinga. Police said they were pursuing Medi so that he can join his accomplices.
Police explained that the same group had previously broken into the same store to steal coffee beans but they were repulsed.
