Namboole Flyover Accident Kills One

Traffic flow was paralyzed on Tuesday morning at Namboole Flyover when a concrete truck overturned killing its driver instantly.

At least one person has been confirmed to have perished in the Tuesday accident that occurred at Namboole flyover.

Assistant Superintendent of Police –ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, who is also the Kampala deputy police spokesperson, identified the deceased as Muhammad Ssegujja aged 29.

Police said the accident is being investigated by Kira Police Division. “It is alleged that Engineering plant (concrete mixer) UBG 217x lost control and overturned. It is alleged that two occupants ran away with minor injuries and left a colleague trapped inside the truck,” ASP Owoyesigyire said.

In a bid to rescue Ssegujja, fire and rescue services were introduced at the scene and the victim who later died was removed. “The gentleman was pulled out but he later died. Efforts are underway to have the removed in order to have proper movement of traffic,” ASP Owoyesigyire said.

ASP Owoyesigyire said Ssegujja was the driver of the truck and a resident of Nasuti Zone, Seeta, in Mukono District. His body has since been conveyed to city Mortuary Mulago for postmortem.
