Former deputy Attorney General and current State minister for Gender and Labour, Mwesigwa Rukutana, has been declared as leading winner of September 4th National Resistance Movement –NRM Party primaries for Rushenyi County.
Rukutana who is battling among other charges of attempted murder, assault, malicious damage, and threatening violence has been declared winner by NRM electoral commission led by its chairman Dr Tanga Odoi at the secretariat in Kampala.
Earlier results indicated he had been floured by his political rival Naome Kabasharira. As a result, he got angry and was captured on video grabbing a gun from his bodyguard threatening to shoot his rival’s supporters. The minister’s victory was announced minutes before he secure his release on court bail.
