Police Operations Nab 35 Suspected Criminals

The Katwe police led operations have left 35 suspected criminals nabbed according to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Luke Owoyesigyire the deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson

ASP Owoyesigyire explained that police in Katwe conducted an intelligence-led operation in Wansanso Zone, Kibuye II Parish, Makindye Division, Kampala District, following public outcry over rampant motorcycle thefts and violent robberies targeting boda boda riders in the area.

“The crackdown, carried out on the afternoon of 12th August 2025 , targeted criminal gangs allegedly operating from garages in Wansanso Zone, which were believed to be dealing in stolen motorcycles and spare parts,” ASP Owoyesigyire explained.

ASP Owoyesigyire added: “During the operation, 35 suspects were arrested, and several exhibits recovered, including nine Bajaj Boxer motorcycles, some with registration numbers UFL 083U, UFW 693H, UET 495A, UFU 306W, UDS 592K, UFA 841M, UEL 401N, UFC 050L, and one without a number plate.”

Police also recovered numerous motorcycle parts and they have since been impounded.

“The suspects are going to be charged, and investigations are ongoing to ensure they are prosecuted,” ASP Owoyesigyire said.

Police have pledged to continue working closely with local leaders and vigilante groups to curb the vice and restore safety for motorcycle operators in the area.
