Motorcycles recovered from arrested robbers in Wakiso

“Police in Wakiso have arrested three suspects linked to a string of motorcycle robberies and recovered 10 motorcycles believed to have been stolen,” said SP Kawala Rachael, spokesperson for the Kampala Metropolitan Police. She explained that the arrests followed an intelligence-led operation triggered by a case of aggravated robbery reported on February 13, 2026, at about 10:00pm.

The victim, Ssesanga Equiam, reported that he had been attacked and robbed of his Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, registration number UMA 191 DV. According to SP Kawala, the assailants were allegedly armed with pangas and forcefully took the motorcycle before escaping.

Through coordinated intelligence efforts, police tracked down the suspects in Old Kampala and Bukesa–Nankulabye in Kampala. During the operation, officers recovered 10 motorcycles suspected to be stolen property. The recovered motorcycles include registration numbers UDH 516H, UGB 248V, UEV 046C, UDH 746H, UDK 657F, and UDN 001C, as well as four Bajaj motorcycles without number plates.

SP Kawala further revealed that during interrogation, the suspects admitted to participating in motorcycle robberies, highway phone snatching, housebreaking, theft, and other related crimes. Investigations are still ongoing to determine the full scope of the criminal network and to identify any additional suspects involved, she added.
