More people have been nominated today to contest for the 10 parliamentary seats in Kampala City. The nominations concluded today have seen political activists and former National Unity Platform (NUP) member David Musiri nominated for Makindye West constituency pitting himself against incumbent Allan Ssewanyana.

Musiri and Ssewanyana all expressed interest to contest on NUP ticket they were all unlucky as the ticket was given to the current KCCA Speaker, Zahara Luyirika. Musiri and others petitioned NUP’s Elections Management Committee (EMC) challenging the decision to give the party flag to Luyirika who never applied to get it.
Luyirika had expressed interest to contest for Kampala Woman MP but the party leadership noticed that it had caused a fierce fight her and incumbent Shamin Malende. Musiri, Ssewanyana and Ali Nganda Mulyanyama had all expressed interest to contest for Makindye West on NUP ticket.
Mulyanyama quickly switched the interest to Makindye East after the incumbent Derrick Nyeko declared that he was not going to seek re-election. Mulyanyama successfully secured the flag for Makindye East while Musiri and Ssewanyana were left cursing after Luyirika snatched the flag from them.
Renowned TV Presenter, Miles Rwamit, was nominated for Nakawa West to challenge incumbent and Leader of Opposition in Parliament (LOP) Joel Ssenyonyi. Rwamiti is contesting on Common Man’s Party (CMP) headed by Mubarak Munangwa, and the latter halted his presidential campaigns and second his flag bearer.
Katongole Singh was also nominated to contest for Lubaga North on NRM ticket and he faces off with incumbent Abubakar Kawalya. NUP, NRM, DF, PFF, DP and FDC all have had candidates contesting on their flags for the 10 MP seats in Kampala.
