Police Identify Victims of Amudat Shooting

Police in Mt Moroto region in colloboration with Amudat CPS are investigating a fatal shooting of four people who were traveling in a Toyota Harrier, grey in colour with registration number UBP 601Q. These were shot dead by unknown person, along Amudat – Katabok road, Ankukunyo village, Amudat parish, on Sunday art around 3:30pm.

Police have identified the victims as residents of Mbale City and they include Umaru Binyota, a 34 year old, businessman, of Namusi- Mbale, Umaru Watime a 40 year old, resident of Nakaloke zone 3, Aramathan Boy, a 25 year old, resident of Namusi – Mbale and Abasi Mubajje, a 23 year old, resident of Namusi. At the scene, 3 bodies of Binyota, Aramanthan and Abasi were found outside the car.

Senior Commissioner of Police- SCP Fred Enanga, said all bodies had multiple bullet wounds on the head, faces, legs, hands, back and chest respectively. One projectile was recovered from the car, six cartridges recovered from inside the car and seven cartridges from outside, all totaling 13.

Police’s sniffer dog was deployed but it lost track after a distance of 1km. Five mobile phones which include two smart phones, and three Itel small phones were recovered from the scene, as well as documents showing cash calculations recovered from the scene.

Enanga said police is joined by Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) in the of perpetrators of the violent murder so that they are swiftly identified, arrested and brought to book.
