
Police force has announced that it needs 2,500 more personnel and these must submit in their applications not later than February 18, 2024. The new vacancies have been announced by the Inspector General of Police, Martin Ochola, through the human resource Assistant Inspector General of Police -AIGP Jesse Kamunanwire.
However, not every unemployed person will join the police as the age has been restricted between 18 and 23. Ochola has directed that all interested individuals must present a valid National Identification Card, they should have no criminal records, and should possess good communication skills.

Also, the applicants must be Ugandan citizens, should be ready to undertake the requisite 12 months police basic training, should be physically and medically fit and should be ready to work for long hours and at times under difficult conditions.
Ochola said that people conducting the recruitment exercise must not recruit any person who is currently serving or previously served in the state forces like Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), Uganda Police Force (UPF), Local Defence Personnel (LDPs) and Uganda Prisons Service (UPS).
The recruits have also been urged to present a hand written application letter address to the IGP, accompanied by certified copies of academic documents, photocopy of the Nation ID, three recent passport size photos, an ID from the previous school or introductory letter.
They must also have recommendation letters from LCI, LCIII and RDC from the respective district of recruitment. The file should be delivered to the district or divisional not later than 18th February, 2024.
Police have warned applicants against presentation of forged documents which will lead to arrest and prosecution in courts of law, applicants who will conceal or provide false information shall be disqualified even during or after training.
