Man Arrested for Stealing 3 Year Old Child

The Police at Nateete have arrested one suspect on allegations of child theft.
The victim is 3 and a half years old while the suspect is Katima Paruku Yasin.

It is alleged that on 24 Jun 23 at Kigwanya zone Busega, Paruku was seen walking with the victim and was intercepted by residents who knew the child.

When asked to explain where he was taking the minor, the suspect had no answer. This prompted the residents to arrest and hand him over to the police.
The officers then opened up a case of child stealing.

According to the complainant Princess Amina 28 years, a resident of Kigwanya, Busega who owns a restaurant, the suspect was new in the area and came to eat breakfast at her restaurant on 23rd and 24th June 2023.

However, on 24th, the suspect ordered breakfast and left after eating. He was later seen at around 1400 hours within the same place moving with the victim. Police further established that the suspect had rented a lodge at Bugobago guest house in Busega behind happy boys bar, where he claimed he left his luggage.

Upon interrogation, the suspect alleged that he is a Congolese national who came to Uganda in 2022. He further told detectives that he went to a certain mosque in Usaafi where he converted to Islam then he was taken to Luweero umea to learn religion.

He was later told to come back to Kampala and begin a new life. We appeal to members of the community to be vigilant and cautious of new people who come to their area.
