Thugs Kill Bodaboda Riders, Leave Another Fighting for Life

Thugs hired two Bodaboda riders from Mayangayanga stage, in Mukono district but turned against them along the way.

Rogers Wangokho was killed and his body dumped in Nafumba village, Nagojje Sub-county, while another was also hacked and left for dead.

Although Nagojje police post registered the crime, it has since been taken over by Nagalama policing division.

Patrick Onyango, the Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson, said Nagalama detectives have opened two cases files of murder and aggravated robbery. So far one suspect has been arrested.

Detectives have established that the thugs hired the Bodaboda riders on the 5 May 23 at around 6 pm purporting to be passengers and headed to different directions.


“A case of murder and aggravated robbery was registered at Nagojje police post.
The crime scene was visited and documented by a team of detectives from Nagalama,” Onyango said.


Police have identified the arrested suspect as James Atine 23, a resident of Kazinga zone, Bweyogerere division, Wakiso district.

Detectives have recovered exhibits of two motorcycles number plates UER 343U and UEZ 678U all Bajaj boxers.

“The deceased was Rogers Wangokho was the rider of Bodaboda motorcycle UEZ 678U while his colleague unidentified colleague was riding motorcycle UER 343U,” detectives said.

Police have established that both the victim and the deceased were picked at the same time by the purported passengers from Mayangayanga bodaboda stage.

“The body had multiple injuries on the head. We are tracing for other suspects being mentioned by the suspect in custody,” Onyango said.
