Lydia Kesiime 38, who had spent four days missing has been found decomposing in a garden. ASP Elly Mate, the Kigezi regional police spokesperson, said the case registered on Kisoro CRB 326/2023 was brought to police attention by Richard Mukunzi.
Kesiime, a Mufumbira by tribe was a resident of Gahiza village Buhoozi parish Busanza sub-county Kisoro district. She went missing from home on May 6, 2023 and the matter was reported to Kisoro police station.
“A search was conducted today morning and her body was recovered from the nearby garden of beans decomposing due injury sustained on the neck. The scene of crime was visited, documented, and postmortem was done. Three suspects were arrested to assist in investigations,” ASP Mate said.
However, while police and locals were still at the scene, information was received that one of the suspects, Jackson Hakizimana, who was on run had been found and lynched by the mob. ASP Mate said Hakizimana’s murder scene was also visited by the same team. His body was taken to Kisoro hospital mortuary for Postmortem.
“Inquiries are ongoing and upon completion, whoever will be found to have been involved in any of the two murders, will be arrested and charged accordingly,” ASP Mate said.
