Army Court Releases Bobi Wine’s Admirer Bobi Young

After spending several months in military jail, Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine’s admirer and diehard, Bobi Young, has been granted temporary freedom by the General Court martial.

Col Deo Akiiki the deputy Uganda peoples Defence forces ( UPDF) spokesperson, said the Court martial sitting in Makindye, in Kampala under the chairmanship of Brig Gen Freeman Mugabe was convinced by the sureties presented by the accused.

Bobi Young whose real name, Anthony Agaba 29, was arrested on January 23rd, 2023 for allegedly spreading harmful propaganda.

Bobi Young was charged together with Lance Corporal Apollo Bigirwa and Pte Stuart Nuwahereza who pleaded guilty and were sentenced to nine months in jail thus leaving him alone on the case.

Brig Mugabe while reading the ruling on the bail application said it was his constitutional right.

“The offence was bailable and had substantial sureties among other requirements for bail. The Chairman warned him not to go beyond Kampala and Wakiso,” Col Akiiki said.

Bobi Young paid one million cash while his sureties paid 10 million shillings none cash bail. Brig Mugabe ordered Bobi Young to report to General Court martial after every fourteen days.

Meanwhile, the Army Court has sentenced Namanya Joshua 30, from Kiruhura to two years imprisonment for the unlawful possession of defence stores.
