Renowned Ugandan blogger Ibrahim Tusubira alias Isma Olaxes aka Jjaja Ichuli has been shot to death two days after celebrating the killing of state minister for labour, Charles Okello Engola.

Minister Engola was killed on Tuesday morning by his bodyguard, Pte Wilson Sabiiti, who claimed he had not been paid for so long.

In response to the tragic ending the minister’s life, blogger Tusubira recorded a video on Thursday celebrating Engola’s murder saying he deserved to die because many like him often mistreat their bodyguards and other workers.

“Now you’re dead, go and serve your labour services in the grave. You guys have mistreated Ugandans for so long. People are being kidnapped and you foolishly said they had been kidnapped by Nigerians,” a loosely translated quote from Tusubira’s local Luganda dialect outburst.

As Tusubira’s video clip has been making rounds on social media, the blogger according to police in Uganda’s capital Kampala, was shot to death on Saturday night by unknown gunman at around 9:20 pm.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson, said Tusubira was being chauffered by his driver in a Toyota Hiace commonly known in Uganda as Drone.

“The gunman shot on the passenger’s side and killed Tusubira on spot. Our police in Kira Road has cordoned off the area in search for the perpetrator and to protect other residents,” ASP Owoyesigyire said.

Social media platforms in Uganda are currently filled with images and clips of Tusubira who regularly criticized almost everybody who did anything he deemed wrong.

It is not clear why Tusubira has been gunned down. However, many have already linked his murder to his latest criticism clips targeting big wigs in security and political circles.

Meanwhile the minister who was killed on Tuesday by his bodyguard will be laid to rest Saturday next week. However, the Army has said it’ll not offer any deserving burial to Pte Sabiiti who killed the minister and later shot himself dead.
