A driver of a Mercedes Benz UBG 811C crashed to death on Tuesday afternoon in front of Kabalagala police station in Kampala. The unidentified driver failed to negotiate a corner and rammed into several cars parked adjacent to the entrance of the police station.
ASP Faridah Nampiima, the traffic police spokesperson, said the incident happened at around 3: 39 pm leaving the driver dead on spot. “The deceased was driving from Gabba side heading to Kampala at a high speed but failed to negotiate the corner at Kabalagala Police Station. He lost control and hit parked vehicles at the Station. He died instantly and seriously injured the co-driver,” ASP Nampiima said.
Police conveyed the deceased’s body to Mulago city mortuary for postmortem examination while the injured victim was rushed to Nsambya Hospital. The Kabalagala incident happened only 24 hours after a Sino truck killed three Kisaka secondary school students, in Gomba district.
ASP Nampiima identified the truck details as UBL 790J which rammed into the students at around 3:30 pm. “It’s alleged that the Sino truck driver lost control and rammed into Kasaka Senior Secondary school fence, proceeded through to the school computer Lab that was occupied by students, killing three on spot and injuring eighteen others,” Nampiima said.
Nampiima identified the deceased students as Evelyn Namagembe a student of Senior Five, Mawanda Bosco in Senior Two, and Asege Hilda in Senior Four. Police have arrested the trucker driver Abdudala Wanume Abudala aged 26.
