Tears filled Kisaka secondary school, in Gomba district, in Uganda on Tuesday afternoon when a truck rammed into a classroom killing on spot three students. Faridah Nampiima, traffic police spokesperson, said the Sino truck UBL 790J rammed into the students at around 3:30 pm.
“It’s alleged that the Sino truck driver lost control and rammed into Kasaka Senior Secondary school fence, proceeded through to the school computer Lab that was occupied by students, killing three on spot and injuring eighteen others,” Nampiima said.
Nampiima identified the deceased students as Evelyn Namagembe a student of Senior Five, Mawanda Bosco in Senior Two, and Asege Hilda in Senior Four. Police have arrested the trucker driver Abdudala Wanume Abudala aged 26.
Meanwhile, a two year old child was killed in Tuesday’s heavy downpour in various parts of Kampala metropolitan. Patrick Onyango, the KMP police spokesperson, said Bostiline Ainebyoona, drowned during heavy rain in Najjera, Nakawa division of Kampala.

Ainebyoona was living with caretakers Charles Makumbi and Clare Asiimwe Clare. It has been established that the deceased’s mother works abroad. “The caretaker Asiimwe alleges that the deceased was playing with other children inside the house and she was washing clothes inside the house. She doesn’t know how the deceased sneaked outside and yet just at the door steps, there is a trench that was flooded,” Onyango said.
Police have explained that the Tuesday rain disrupted traffic flow within Kampala Metropolitan as sections of some roads were flooded and motor vehicles could not easily move through. In addition, police said properties worth millions of shillings were destroyed by water that entered people’s shops, houses, and offices.
