Indian National Strangles Wife to Death in Kampala

Police in Kampala have arrested an Indian national, Sahil Sharma 34, on accusations of strangling to death his wife Deekesha Sharma 28, during a Saturday night domestic brawl. Police detectives said Sahil who is currently detained at Jinja Road police took his wife to Paragon Hospital accompanied by three other Indian men.

However, doctors noticed that Deekesha was long dead. The medics led by Dr Abu- Baker Ggayi examined the body and noticed it had a bruise around the neck extending from the left to the right.

It was at that point that Dr Ggayi secretly alerted the police which surrounded the hospital and arrested the quartet. Police officers who swung into action, and arrested Sahil with his colleagues were commanded by detective Inspector of Police Stephen Ibwarat, who is also the Officer Incharge Criminal Investigations at Bugolobi police station.

Police also checked the body while it was still at Paragon hospital and also realized it had signs pointing to strangulation. Sahil was later taken back to their residence at Bugolobi flats where some exhibits were collected.

So far, statements have been recorded from the three Indians who accompanied Sahil and the medics at Paragon hospital. It is said that the other Indians have indicated that they were called by Sahil to help him take his ill wife to the hospital but did not know what had exactly transpired.

The trio has since been released while Sahil has been slapped with charges of murder. Deekesha’s body was taken to Kampala Capital City Authority -KCCA morgue for postmortem.
