The disappearance of Bushura Najjuko, 24, two days before her wedding has left parents, relatives and friends baffled. Najuuko, according to her mother, Aisha Nalukenge, went missing after being attended to at Shafuras Bride Make-up shop, in Nakivubo, in Kampala’s central business district.
Nalukenge, who lives at Katereke Cell, Kyengera town council, Wakiso district, said her daughter disappeared on Friday evening yet the wedding was slated for Sunday (yesterday) for unknown reasons.
“Najjuko was preparing for her upcoming marriage ceremony, which was scheduled for Sunday. While at Nakivubo, Najjuko reportedly handed over her changing dresses to Kivumbi Ali, a boda-boda rider, to take home. She informed him that she would follow later but never showed up, raising concerns about her whereabouts,” deputy KMP police spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigyire said.
Police said efforts to locate Najjuko have so far been unsuccessful. The make shop owner, who believe to be the last person seen with Najjuko, has since confirmed that they were together but parted ways at the New Taxi Park since they were heading in different directions.
Nalukenge has since informed police that her daughter was supposed to marry Faruk Mugalu, a resident of Kagoma. “Investigations are ongoing, and we urge anyone with information about Najjuko’s whereabouts to contact the nearest police station. We appeal to the public to help in any way possible to ensure the safe return of Najjuko Bushura to her family,” police said.
