The joint security agencies have arrested more than 100 suspected criminals in Kira Municipality six days after thugs raided the home of Interpol director AIGP Grace Akullo.

Thugs surprised police and military personnel in Kira when they successfully ransacked AIGP Akullo’s home and varnished with a TV flat screen.

The attack on AIGP Akullo’s home left many shocked because she’s one of 15 police officers attaining the highest rank in the Uganda police force.

But security in what looks like a response to the shocking attack on the home of such a security echelon have conducted operations that have led to the arrest of more than 100 suspects.

Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson, said some of the suspects are hardcore criminals who have been in and out of jail.

Owoyesigyire said the police and military operations will continue until the whole of Kira Municipality is free of criminals who have left many robbed, injured and others killed.

A few weeks ago, city lawyer Alweny was hit and killed by thugs using a paver on Kiwatule- Naalya road at around 9pm after she had bought roasted pork.

Areas of Kyaliwajjala, Namugongo, Kira, Kasangati, Najjera, and Kyanjjo have been infested with criminals who attack people even during daytime.

The arrested suspects join two police guards who were earlier arrested for sleeping on job as thugs raided their Principal’s home.
