Uganda Records Highest Number of Covid19 Cases in 24 Hours

With an addition of 240 new Covid19 cases from samples taken on Monday, Uganda’s accumulative figures have jumped to 8,017.

Praises of Uganda being one of the best 10 countries to that have greatly contained the spread of Corona Virus Disease –Covid19 could be on the verge of diminishing as the country registered the highest number of positive cases in a single day.

Ministry of health led by, Dr Jane Ruth Aceng, on Wednesday announced 1,199 new Covid19 cases almost doubling cases that were recorded the previous day. The new cases were detected from 8,223 samples conducted on Tuesday.

Out of 1,199 new cases, 414 were from Kampala, 252 from Wakiso, Kabarole had seventy-five, fifty-seven were from Kasese, forty-nine were from Masaka, thirty-seven from Luweero, thirty-four from Mbarara and thirty-one from Isingiro district.

gures at 25,059 since March 21 when the first case was detected at country’s Airport in Entebbe, Wakiso district. The rise in Covid19 cases is attributed to public flouting guidelines among others wearing face masks, washing hands, social distancing and avoiding crowded places.

Uganda is slated to hold her presidential and parliamentary elections on 14th of the first month of next year. The campaigns have continued to attract huge crowds. Both the ruling party and opposition politicians have failed to regulate numbers of people that throng their rally venues.

Besides the new positive cases, Uganda has also announced 12 new deaths. This brings the number of Covid19 fatalities to 219. Among the fatalities include two Members of Parliament, a Colonel, business mogul and doctors.
