At least three people have been confirmed dead and dozens are fighting for their dear life in various hospitals as a result of Saturday night multiple road crashes.
The carnage that occurred at around 9pm involved seven vehicles at Bukoto Kisasi road. Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy police spokesperson for Kampala, said trouble started when a Sino truck UAZ 164D lost control and rammed into other six vehicles.
Owoyesigyire identified other six vehicles crashed by the Sino truck as UBF 722 M Subaru, UBF 103D Volvo blue in colour, UBF 722M grey in colour Ipsum, UBE 932H Mercedes Benz, UAZ 546F Premio silver in colour and UAX 153 S Noah.
“Kira road Police are investigating a fatal accident involving seven motor vehicles. Three people have been confirmed dead at the accident scene, all are occupants of the UAX 153 S Toyota Noah, while four others have been rushed to different health facilities with serious injuries,” Owoyesigyire said.
Police have conveyed bodies of the deceased persons conveyed to city mortuary Mulago for post-mortem. Currently, police are doing whatever is within their means to ensure the road is cleared. Police is also hunting for Sino truck who is on the run.
