Museveni Canvasses Votes in Bugisu Region

President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni spent the better of Tuesday canvassing for votes in Bugisu sub region.

Museveni who is seeking for his sixtieth elective term was received by excited crowds in among other Bugisu districts of Mbale and Sironko. However, Museveni who is cautious on novel Corona Virus Disease-Covid19 did not stop to greet or wave to his supporters.

Instead, Museveni reminded the public that Covid19 is very serious and it does not segregate. The President said it was time to focus on fighting Covid19 but also urged the public to respect the Standard Operating Procedures –SOPs intended to curtail Covid19 spread.

“The focus of the NRM is to concentrate on interest and not identity. Right now we are fighting the pandemic which is affecting everyone. There is no corona which is for Bagisu or Bagwere. So our focus is to stop its spread and find the cure, which is in everybody’s interest,” Museveni said.

Even though National Resistance Movement-NRM has more than enough subscribers, Museveni has continuously held meetings with 200 people as directed by the ministry of health and Electoral Commission.

Hundreds of NRM supporters stand by the roadside expecting Museveni to stop, wave or greet them but he has consistently avoided them. It should be remembered that Covid19 has claimed lives of more than 170 people in Uganda.
