By Benjamin Mwibo

HE. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has expressed grief on his birthday celebrations while remembering the spirits of the fallen men that supported him to occupy power when they shade blood.

There are two Septembers that are very important in the struggle that occured , the one of 1972, and that of 1985 of Katonga, however there were also other bigger battles before and after that of Katonga, Museveni said at kololo speaking to the audience.

“I had turned 28 years of age when we attacked Mbarara from Tanzania in the September of 1972, due to poor planning of the attack, many of the soldiers died, therefore it was a bad September in our history and the situation was terrible, it was bloody and I will show Ugandans proof by sharing some of the pictures on social media that were taken during the that gun war.” He described on Friday.

“When I got to know about the idea of celebrating my 79 years on earth, I advised the organizer, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo that it was unfair to celebrate the years without remembering those who are fallen that I struggled with in the battle that led the NRA to Victoria. “

He added that since 1962, Uganda could have had peaceful politics, there was no need for battles and dialogue was much better but instead others never wanted political democracy as they optioned for violence, sectarianism and hence forced the NRA into war to change the order of the day.

On the issue of the veterans, the president advised them make use of their veteran associations in order to acquire benefits and live a better life, he noted.

The president included that some among the challenges now for the Ugandans is education, whereby the head teachers are busy charging money for UPE and USE government schools. Education is not about making money as some people take it and he called upon all Ugandans to join him fight corrupt head teachers.

Second is poverty, there are no bush and gun wars in Uganda now, the only war Ugandans have is to escape the poverty lines. This can be achieved through commercialisation of farming, for example farming for substance but also getting something into the pockets.

If politics is put aside as the Youths and focus on how to develop, poverty can be fought adequately, as the president has mentioned that it is the only war currently, I therefore encourage all the youths to listen and to support Gen. Salim Saleh who is the senior coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation in Uganda, Desire Muhooza one of the attendees and an advocate for Operation Wealth Creation stated.
