By Benjamin Mwibo

The co- chairperson of the Inter Religious Council of Uganda,  presiding apostle Dr. Joseph Sserwada of Victory Church and the leader of the born again faith in Uganda has given a vote of thanks to the fountain of honor HE. Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for ensuring professionalism in the army.

Dr. Sserwada mentioned this while delivering his speech on Friday, accompanied with other members of the Inter Religious council at kololo during the celebrations of Museveni’s 79th Birthday and also remembering the victory from the Katonga battle by the then NRA.

We wish to thank you for creating a modern and professional army that is instrumental in keeping security not only within Uganda but to other countries too, he said.

According to Dr. Sserwada, “As we celebrate your birthday, we celebrate the fruits of your leadership, spanning from many areas including but not limited to infrastructural development, security, social economic transformation and others.”

He added that in the realm of infrastructural development, the country has witnessed a surge in developed networks like the hydro electric power dams such as Nalubaale dam, karuma, and Isimba dam that are a backbone of the industrial development and the ongoing development of the oil and gas in the Albertine region, including proposed pipelines from Hoima to Tanga in Tanzania and the standard gauge railway as well.

Speaking further,  the apostle explained how it can not be left unmentioned that Uganda is experiencing unprecedented rapid social economic transformation in the region, especially with the Universal Secondary Education and Universal Primary Education where millions have been able to go to school and the number of Universities has increased, therefore the power should be put on the national health insurance scheme to ensure that every Ugandan has access to health services, Sserwada noted.

He advised that to consolidate the achievement and to secure Uganda’s future, it is important to reconsider the question of the Uganda national dialogue as a missing link in national development as the conversation shall be  aimed at cementing people to people relations and also build concensus between people and their leaders.

“The harmonious relationship will culminate into social cohesion, unit in diversity, national stability and inclusive development.”

He also applauded on behalf of the Inter Religious council, the cordial working relationship between the government of Uganda and the inter Religious Council.
