UPDF Soldier, Two Civilians Arrested in Security

A Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) soldier, Pte Moses Mutebi, force number RA 244062 and two civilians have been arrested in suspicion of conducting night robberies. The trio’s case recorded at Kiteezi Police Station under reference SD 29/03/2025 was an intelligence led operation carried out at Kiteezi Cell, Kiteezi Ward, Kasanagti town council, Wakiso District.

Source have indicated that on March 28, 2025, at around 18:00hrs, a joint operation was conducted at Kiteezi ghetto area led by ASP Charles Twinemukama with the support of UPDF led by major Lubwama

“Following the information on some civilian who always wear UPDF uniform during night around Kiteezi and always move in vehicle UBK 813X Subaru black in colour. The operation was successful, three suspect were arrested including the same vehicle UBK 813X Subaru,” sources said.

Sources added: “Among the three suspect arrested one of them is UPDF solider No RA 244062 PTE Mutebi Moses attached to 73 battalion under 5th Division. Others are civilian called Emmanuel Muyingo, a resident of Busiika and Ezekiel Wandera, a resident of Bamba cell Kasangati town council wakiso district.”

Security said the exhibits recovered from them include one UPDF worm suit jacket, four women dress, one pair of child shoe, and two pairs of women shoe. Security findings alleged that the trio has been severally seen around Kiteezi area while wearing UPDF uniforms mostly during night.

“They normally do their operation from Busiika, Buwambo, Matuga, Makindye and other parts of Kampala with the help of one UPDF solider called Mulumba attached to Makindye barracks,” sources added.

Police have handed over the UPDF solider to UPDF and was signed by RA 218243 CPL Herbert Twinobusingye attached to Kasangati army Barracks on tel 0764632953. The vehicle UBK 813X Subaru has been impounded at Kiteezi police station. Police have charged the civilians with being in possession of government stores.
