Kiteezi Garbage Death Toll Roses to 30 People

The death toll of Kiteezi garbage collapse has risen to 30 people after six more bodies were retrieved today.

“Today, the operation resumed in high gear and work was not interrupted. The team retrieved six (06) dead bodies by 1730 hours. This makes a total of 30 bodies so far recovered,” SSP Patrick Onyango the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson said.

The identity of those recovered today are:
1. Hairati Natumanya 20 years
2. Lwere Ronald ( Kyakanyi Rymond’s brother)
3. Owori Moses 03 years
4. Okello Richard 31 years
5. Alowo Jane 33 years
6. Achengi Jane 06 years.

Kiteezi landfill collapsed on Saturday morning covering more than 30 houses and close to 100 people. Police have registered 39 still missing persons. This puts the number of the already dead and missing to nearly 70.

However, there are people who were reportedly covered and could not be registered since no one among their circles survived.
