LDC Needs UGX36B For Next Fiscal Year

The Law Development Center secretary Hamisi Lukyamuzi informed members of parliament on the Legal and Affairs Committee that LDC was in need of more lecturers. To have these part time lecturers, he revealed that it would require 35 Billion shillings to pay them. Lukyamuzi noted that the increased number of students propelled this venture.

Unlike other academic intuitions, the Law Development Center utilises professionals already employed by the government in the judicial service to lecture their students.

The 35 Billion is an addition to 70.5 Billion shillings required for the completion of a multipurpose building. The building will increase the number of student enrolment with capacity of 2000-3000 students.

While before the committee Annet Karungi, Head Bar Course at Law Development Centre (LDC) was questioned about the high failure rate .She however blamed the high failure rate among students, on the half-baked training & skills lawyers receive at the different Universities, saying the 9months at LDC aren’t enough to address these knowledge & skills gaps.
