The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces has stepped up efforts together with the Uganda Police Force and Uganda Wildlife Authority to hunt down the attacked that killed three people along Katunguru-Mweya-Katwe road in Kasese District.
While addressing the joint meeting was held at Mweya peninsular in Kasese district, the Mountain Division Commander and Operation Shujaa Major General Dick Olum urged the Uganda Wildlife Authority to recruit and strengthen its staff as means of addressing it’s manpower gaps
The Executive Director of UWA, Dr Sam Mwandha said that they are working jointly with the UPDF Mountain Division and Uganda Police to hunt down the perpetrators of the Monday attack.
“UPDF and Police have the capacity to ensure security and they will close all the gaps required to deal with the enemy. Both sister security forces will ensure that security of Ugandans and foreign tourists is guaranteed,” said Dr. Mwandha.
Dr. Mwanda added that such an isolated incident shouldn’t deter tourists from coming to Uganda since their security is guaranteed.
The meeting was attended by Brig Gen Christopher Ddamulira, Director Crime Intelligence, Col Saul Nabimanya Bishusha, Regional Police commander, Commander National Vital Assets and Strategic Installations, Col Allan Kyangungu, Rwenzori Regional Police Commander, Johnson Kiconco, Manager law enforcement, Margaret Kasumba among others.
