The trio were convicted in2018 of abuse of office , false accounting ,fraud and diversion of public funds to a tune of 88billion shillings.

In 2020, the Court of Appeal upheld the decision where Rwamafa and colleagues were to remain in Luzira but reduced his jail term to 4 years .

Meanwhile at that time, the trio was still battling sentences ranging from nine to ten years handed to them in 2018 by Justice Margaret Tibulya for diversion of 15 billion Shillings claiming that was meant for Legal Fees to execute a case involving pensioners.

Lwamafa’s pardon has raised various reactions all pointing to government’s reluctance in dealing with corruption.
