UPDF Retirees 93 Officers

17 UPDF Colonels, 13 Leftnant Colonels and 63 Majors have been successfully retired from the  active services.

The occasion has been presided over by Lieutenant General Peter Elwelu, the Deputy Chief of Defense Forces UPDF, as the chief guest on Friday at the Ministry of Defense in kampala.

The chief guest has Implored the retired officers to be disciplined and reflect a positive image of the UPDF in their respective communities.

“After you it is us who are still serving to also retire, it is the path for all of us , therefore it is good for you to create a good image and characters in the community so that we can also be welcomed thankfully.”

Retiring Senior Officer Colonel Godfrey Okello batch 13 A  on behalf of retiring Senior Officers, indicated that the day marks a momentous occasion as they gather to celebrate not just the culmination of their military journey, but also the enduring spirit of camaraderie, dedication, and service that define the Uganda People’s Defense Forces.

“I find it both a privilege and a responsibility to express our heartfelt gratitude on this remarkable day, first and foremost, we extend our deepest appreciation to our visionary leader the Commander in Chief and the leadership of UPDF for entrusting us with the privilege of serving our great nation, the Pearl of Africa.”

The invaluable experiences, challenges, and opportunities have shaped us into the persons we are today. We are truly grateful for the unwavering support, guidance, and mentorship provided by our superiors and peers throughout our tenure, okello added.

“To the fellow Senior officers, he saluted them for the unwavering commitment, sacrifice, and dedication to their shared mission. “Each day, you demonstrated resilience and determination in the face of adversity, safeguarding our nation’s sovereignty and promoting peace within our borders, ” he described.

Col. okello also explained that to the fellow citizens of Uganda, the people they have sworn to protect, they thank them for the trust and support, their appreciation for efforts fuels their determination to partner with them and with the outmost dedication and integrity in retirement, as they develop communities together. 

Your unwavering belief in the UPDF’s mission serves as a constant reminder of the significance of our roles in ensuring a secure and prosperous Uganda, especially as we are joining you as wanaichi out of combat ready to continue creating wealth for ourselves through PDM and other government initiatives being our beacon, he said.
