Fr Felix and Fr Charles lighting candles in memory of 23 seminarians.
Christians yesterday held a memorial mass for the 23 Kitabi seminarians who died in a road accident on June 15, 1993. The students died when a truck they were traveling had a head-on collision with another lorry.
The mass that was held on Thursday evening at St Padre Pio Chapel at Makerere University Business School (MUBS) left Christians in a somber mood. Candles were light in memory of the departed seminarians as the choir sang it is well with my soul hymn.
The mass in memory of the seminarians was led by Fr Felix Muhaise accompanied by Fr Charles. Fr Muhaise reminded Catholics to always pray for the departed souls because prayer has power to cause for their pardon in case they are yet to reach the rightful hand of God.

Sam Bambanza, the executive director for Hope for Victims of Traffic Accidents (HOVITA) asked former and current Kitabi seminary students and the administrators to utilize the 1993 incidents to engage in road safety advocacy.
Bambanza reminded the congregation that although the 23 students died 30 years ago, similar challenges are being faced by learners today. He said there is lack of safe transportation of students and this was based on the fact that most of the people dying on our roads are young people.
