Police and it’s sister security agencies have registered a total of 107 cases of items stolen from pilgrims at Namugongo Catholic and Anglican martyrs’ shrines.
Patrick Onyango, the Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson, said at the Catholic shrines 62 cases of stolen mobile phones were registered.
“The cases of general theft at the Catholic shrines were 35, one case was for malicious damage, one for impersonation and one of using narcotics,” Onyango said

Meanwhile security has arrested 140 people for stealing from pilgrims. These suspects were netted by overt teams deployed among the pilgrims.
Police expect that the numbers may increase as pilgrims are on the way back home.
