The Uganda Premier League (UPL) season will conclude this evening with three decisive matches that will determine the title winner.
An intense clash awaits among three formidable teams: SC Villa, Vipers, and KCCA FC, all vying for the 2023 silverware. Each team holds a tangible possibility of clinching victory, with SC Villa currently enjoying a commendable advantage.
SC Villa, the front runner for the title, has amassed an impressive 52 points from 27 matches. In a close second place is Vipers with 50 points, tied with KCCA in the third position.
SC Villa will face Uganda Revenue Authority at Mutesa II Stadium, Vipers will host Busoga United at St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende, and KCCA FC will go head-to-head against Bright Stars at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.

The intense rivalry among these three teams emerged during the final stretch of the season when they found themselves in a gripping deadlock, all with an equal tally of 49 points, albeit with Vipers SC holding a significant goal difference.
However, a dramatic turn of events unfolded a few days ago as both Vipers and KCCA FC settled for draws in their respective matches against BUL FC and Busoga United, while SC Villa emerged victorious against Blacks Power.
SC Villa, the record champions of the premier league with 16 trophies, will be aiming to secure their first silverware in nearly two decades, since their last triumph in 2004. Meanwhile, Vipers is determined to defend their championship title.
To ensure a perfect medal ceremony on an exhilarating match day, the league Secretariat has decided to adjust the kickoff time of the final league game. This adjustment will facilitate the trophy transfer and create an epic final match day.
In a letter dated May 22, 2023, written by Bainamani Bernard Bampaire, the Chief Executive Officer of the league, it was stated that the Secretariat wanted to organize a successful crowning event at one of the venues for the club that emerges as the league champions.
“As we approach the season’s conclusion scheduled for Saturday, May 27, 2023, with only one match remaining and a difference of 2 points between the top three clubs, the UPL Secretariat has adjusted the kickoff time for Match-Day 30 from 4:00 pm to 3:00 pm,” the letter read.
Furthermore, for the first time in history, all three games will be broadcast live. SC Villa’s game against URA will be aired on Sanyuka Prime, the Vipers vs. Busoga United match will be broadcasted on FUFA TV, and KCCA vs. Bright Stars will be aired on BSS Terefayina.
