Police in Kyankwanzi are investigating the murder of six people family members in a petrol fire lit by an angry relative.
The incident that happened on Friday morning also left fives other fighting for their dear life as they were also severely burnt.

Masode-Kalagi town council, in Kyankwanzi district.

Police have identified the deceased as Mukansime Julian, Mariam, Gerald Barley, Nsinga Leticia, Namubiru Pamela, Mukankubito Mariam and Kisake Patrick.
It is said that Mukankubito set the house ablaze in the wee hours of the morning. The injured persons have been identified as Nyabutono Mukambabuka, Namata Ruth, Mumbeja, Zayituni and one unidentified female juvenile.
Police have established that the deceased persons and the victims currently getting treatment at Kiboga hospital are members of the same family.
Investigators have also learnt that the family head, Rubauka John, was facing financial challenges while attending to his wife now the late Mukansime Julian.
“As a bail out, the family head sold land to Mukankubito Mariam, now deceased at a cost of six million shillings, to address the financial challenges. This didn’t go well with other family members who protested against Mukankubito Mariam’s land acquisition,” police said.
On Thursday, Mukankubito Mariam, allegedly spent a night sharing intoxicating drinks with other family members at her own expense.
Police said Mukankubito Mariam while in the house with others locked the door with padlocks and poured inflammable liquid (petrol) all over her self and then after set fire which spread to the entire house causing death of six people including herself and injuring five others.
“Six bodies have been conveyed to Kiboga general hospital mortuary for postmortem examination. Inquiries are still ongoing,” police said.
