Rogers Atuhaire, an SGA private security guard allegedly shot himself dead in the morning hours of Thursday in Kampala.
This incident happened at Buganda road zone, Nakasero II Parish, Kampala Central Division. The suspected suicide is being investigated by Wandegeya police station.

“Atuhaire Rogers, who had been deployed at the beat for the past two days, was found dead at the scene. Initial reports suggest that the deceased was discovered by Okudu David, a day guard who had arrived for duty,” ASP Luke Owoyesigyire the deputy Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson said.
Okudu, said he heard the sound of a gun being cocked, assuming it was a routine safety precaution.
“Upon arrival at the scene, the police made several observations. Atuhaire Rogers was found lying in a pool of blood, with a bullet wound visible on his throat, which had penetrated through his head,” ASP Owoyesigyire said.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that Atuhaire was working alongside Mary Namumanya for the night duty.
ASP Owoyesigyire said as part of the investigation process, witness statements have been recorded, and relevant exhibits have been recovered.
Police have also arrested six individuals for questioning in attempt to establish what exactly transpired.
“A comprehensive and impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident will be carried out and further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses,” police said.
This incident comes barely a week after private security guard shot and killed his colleague at Lukuli-Nanganda in Makindye division.
Before the Makindye incident, a police officer, Ivan Wabwire, had shot and killed an Indian money lender Uttam Bhandari.
