Police Apologizes to Indians After Their Own Kills Indian Business

Uganda police force have apologized to Indians over an incident that happened on Friday afternoon where Constable Ivan Wabwire shot to death an Indian businessman Uttam Bhandari.

Maj Gen Geoffrey Tumusiime Katsigazi, the deputy Inspector General of Police, met with a delegation of the Indian business community living in Uganda today hours after Bhandari had been killed.

Tumusiime used the meeting to reassure Indians that the police is committed to ensuring their security.

Bhandari was shot at Rajja Chambers at Parliament Avenue. The deceased was the director of TFS financial services at Rajja Chambers in Kampala.

Gen Tumusiime urged the Indians not to regard the shooting as a case of organized or targeted crime, but rather as an isolated incident.

Police have expressed the readiness to protect all business communities, urging them not to let this incident discourage them from conducting business.

Wabwire picked a Bodaboda and rushed to Kampala Central Police Station- CPS where dumped the killer gun. Gen Tumusiime said the force is actively working to apprehend and prosecute the suspect.
