Unidentified thugs last night killed a private security guard of St Edward College in Wakiso district. The guard who was strangled to death using a rope has been identified as Christopher Anguyo, aged 29.
Anguyo was attacked at around 1 am while on his duty at St Edward College located at Galambi village, Gombe division, Nansana Municipality, Wakiso district. The deceased’s co-guard Ceasar Okwang 25, was also attacked but left in a critical state.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson, said Okwang was taken to Mulago hospital where he is receiving treatment. Police are yet to get anyone linked to the murder and so far, no clues about the motive.
However, police are optimistic that Okwang’s narration after gaining consciousness would provide an insight into what exactly transpired. Police believe Okwang could be in a position to describe the appearance of the attackers which could lead to their hunt and arrest.
Owoyesigyire said police officers who visited, preserved, and documented the crime scene also recovered a blood-stained rope. Other exhibits police have so far recovered are a damaged bow, and arrows.
Police said that the deceased’s phone was also found. “The deceased’s body was taken to the City Mortuary for post-mortem. No arrests have been made yet, but the police have launched a full investigation to apprehend the culprits. The motive of the murder is currently unknown since nothing is missing at school,” Owoyesigyire said.
Police have assured the public that they will do everything in their power to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure the safety of everyone in the community. “Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family and friends of Anguyo Christopher during this difficult time. We also wish Okwang Ceasar a speedy recovery.”
Anguyo’s murder comes a fortnight after another security guard was attacked and killed in the same division of Nansana Municipality, in Wakiso district. The guard was at Kyadondo security schools and the attackers varnished with over 100 million shillings.
