Two German nationals have been robbed by thugs that trailed them from a restaurant in Jinja up to their home gate on Wednesday night in Buikwe district.
Assistant Superintendent of Police -ASP Hellen Butoto, the Ssezibwa regional police spokesperson, said police in Njeru Municipality have started hunting for the thugs. Butoto said a case of aggravated robbery on two German nationals happened at round 8pm. Victims have been identified as Selma Gudorff, and Greta Dethlets.
“They were robbed of their belongings by three unknown thugs, two of them allegedly armed with panga, and knives just at their gate after being dropped by a motorcycle that had brought them home, from Hangout Restaurant in Jinja where they are frequent customers,” Butoto said.

Police have identified the Bodaboda rider of the two Germans as Job Damba who is also a worker at the same restaurant but would always bring them back home on his motorcycle.
Police have established that robbers came from behind also on a motorcycle and grabbed their handbags and threatened to cut them. In fear of being hurt, the Germans surrendered the two bags and items that included 400,000 Uganda shillings, two credit cards, one driving license for Selma, one smartphone,” Butoto said.
The victims who are both females are volunteers with Katosi inter community development alliance ( KIDA) an NGO based in Naja in Buikwe.
According to police, the robbers seem to have trailed the victims right from the restaurant in Jinja where they had been passing time and followed them up to the gate of their residence.
“The hunt for the suspects is ongoing by our joint intelligence teams.
More updates to be availed in due course,” Butoto said.
