
The Directorate of Crime Intelligence (DCI) in collaboration with police in Wandegeya have carried out an intelligence operation leading to the arrest of over 50 suspected robbers and marijuana dealers.
DCI carried out the operation on Wednesday evening in areas of Lower and upper Nsoba, Mulago III parish Kawempe Division in Kampala District.
Patrick Onyango, the Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson, said DCI operation followed public outcry of increased criminality and opium usage among the youths who terrorise northern bypass and the surrounding areas of Gayaza road, and Mawanda road.
Police said the operation was commanded by Wandegeya District Police Commander (DPC) Superintendent of Police- SP Hassan Hiwumbire backed up by Officer in Charge of Operations, OC Kalerwe, and other team of officers.

Onyango said one of the 51 is suspects a female. Below is the list of the suspects:
Kafeero Amews, Magero Muhamed, Mukwanga Denis, Kyobinga Hassan, Menya Bashir, Sserunjoji Rashid, Kijambu Harunah, Jingo Harman, Kasujja Bright, Ruhinda Innocent, Kigozi Yahaya, Musagimana Yonas, Hassan Charles, Tabo Ronald, Ndakaza Steven, Mungujjakisa Dennis, Nikubimana Richard, Kwizera David, Irivuzimana Yoweri, Ndugwa Hamza, Muzayimana Derrick, Semivumbi jamal, Turyasingura Amos, Lukenge Lawrence, Agreu Isaac, Lutaya Ibra, Mayanja Paddy, Tabu Ivan, Ssebagala Yusuf, Ddumba Ukasi, Ssengonzi Brian, Gumisiriza Ashraf, Ddumba Augustos, Ssebirumbi Kasaija and Matovu Tonny.
Other suspects are Kirumira Swaib, Mutebi Shafiq, Kamoga Kasim, Mutunzi Henry, Kamaro Belubela, Kimera Eddy, Musoke Fahad, Kakooza Ali, Ssekyanzi Hassan, Kamya Dan, Mpiribwa Geofrey, Kasaga Abdul, Tusenge Emma, Kanyesige Jacob, Mubiru Abby and Nasege Sumaya
“All the above suspects are being detained at Wandegeya Police station and charged with Being in Possession of Narcotic Drugs & Smoking Opium,” Onyango said.
DCI said the exhibits recovered from them include unrolled and sticks of Opium. Police said the operation will continue so as to reduce the public outcry.
