President Yoweri Museveni has exercised his powers as commander in chief of armed forces and appointed Maj Gen Bob Ogiki as commander of Uganda People’s Defence Forces -UPDF second division in Mbarara district.
Museveni in today’s reshuffle released to the media by deputy Army and Defence Spokesperson Col Deo Akiiki first promoted Ogiki from the rank of Brigadier to Major General.
Ogiki replaces Maj Gen Francis Tukirwa who has been appointed deputy commander UPDF Land Forces.
Prior to today’s appointment, Ogiki has been the Chief of Staff Land Forces and this position has been given to Maj Gen Jack Bakasumba in acting capacity.
Bakasumba was last year transferred from the position of Chief of Joint Staff -CJS in the Uganda police force to South Sudan as defence attache.
