
Ugandan especially those in the milk business are mourning the death of Professor Dr Michael Kansiime, the Executive Director Dairy Development Authority, who breathed his last in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.
Kansiime died on after battling with a Kidney disease for a long time, it’s also understood that his wife had donated him a kidney so as to resuscitate his life but all that has not yielded results since he has been pronounced dead.
In June 2020 Dr Michael Kansiime was appointed head of the Diary Development Authority from Makerere University College of Veterinary Medicine and his tenure was supposed to end in 2025. Dr. Kansiime replaced Dr. Jolly Zaribwende whose tenure had come to an end.
Joshua Akandwanaho the director of Frank Farm Estates said that the dairy sector has lost a very vibrant person who was very passionate about the dairy sector. He also said that he contributed to the improvement in the productivity of the production of milk and dairy products in the dairy
William Matovu the Country Director of Heifer Uganda said that he worked with Dr Kansiime at Makerere University and he trained young people in the value addition of the dairy product, especially in the making of Yourgut.
During his tenure in office he managed to register a growth in Uganda’s Milk export to 358 billion in revenue. Milk and milk products dealers were optimistic that Dr Kansiime would do more wonders by end of his tenure.
