
At least 18 suspected criminals are behind bars at Old Kampala police station following an operation targeting serial thugs.
Police under the Old Kampala Division Commander -DPC Tyson Rutambika combed areas of Bukoza and Kosovo cells in Lugala, Lubaga division, in Kampala. Police zeroed on those two cells following numerous residents outcries.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Patrick Onyango, has identified the netted suspected thugs as Alifusi Baganinesa, Aloysius Mumbere, Sadat Bwambale, Abubakar Swidiq, Ben Atakosesobi, Adriko Robert, Stephen Kisira, Siryaki Byamukama, Alfred Feni, Joseph Andama and Kule Kosasi.
Others suspects are Muhammad Kigenyi, Didier Niyonkuru, Jackson Sigoma, Makyosi Bwambale, Eric Kizira, John Baptist Nkuruziza and Bosco Zinyamenya.
“All the suspects have been charged with being a common nuisance,” Onyango said.
But police failed to nab an alleged notorious thugs known as Mamba after he fled upon seeing police officers entering the cells.
