80 Charged at KCCA Court For Being Public Nuisances

Suspected thugs after being arrested

At least 80 suspected thugs and thieves have been charged with being public nuisances at Kampala Capital City Authority –KCCA court. The charged were part of the 100 people arrested in what police described as intelligence led operations intended to wit the city of criminals.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Patrick Onyango, the Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson, said the suspects were arrested purposely to weed out culprits who have continuously engaged in acts of burglaries, thefts and robberies.

The operation was conducted yesterday in areas of Nakivubo Channel, Kiseka market, Blue room, goods shed, and Railways. “The suspects were screened today and over 80 were taken to City Hall Court charged with being a public nuance. The operation is still ongoing and this weekend we are to clean other areas of Kampala,” Onyango said.

Thugs have recently taken over the city and its suburbs where a number of have been attacked, hacked, stabbed and others left dead. The city has numerous criminal gangs that include Kigaali, Dog Tulumbe, B13, Kifeesi, Kagombe, and Kasumuluzo.
