Ugandans and other people from all walks of life have used social media and other mediums to condole and celebrate the life of fallen outspoken Sheikh Nuhu Muzaata.
Renown for speaking his mind, Muzaata died on Friday evening at International Hospital Kampala –IHK where he had spent over a fortnight fighting for his dear life. Nevertheless, his cause of death has remained scanty.
Muzaata will be remembered for scratching backs of people whom he perceived to be against Islam, violating human rights, playing with people’s daughters including those taking much from the poor.
Among the hundreds perhaps Muzaata tore apart in his lifetime include Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni’s government, Kawempe South MP Mubarak Munyagwa, Buganda kingdom premier Charles Peter Mayiga, musician Eddy Kenzo, former Inspector General of Police Gen Kale Kayihura, former Kampala South RPC Siraje Bakaleke, Uganda Mufti Ramadhan Mubajje.
Muzaata reminded Museveni and his government against discriminating Muslim in key government positions. He also attacked government of arresting Muslims whenever a Muslim cleric was killed. His criticism came after a dozens of Muslim clerics among others Sheikhs Mustafa Bahiga, Hassan Kirya, Abdul Muwaya, Muhamad Kiggundu were killed in a space of three years.
Gen Kayihura was torn by Muzaata since 95 percent of suspects in high killings were always Muslims. Muzaata attacked Gen Kayihura for not picking his phone calls and also criticized Bakaleke for not fighting for Muslims despite his position.
Muzaata often blamed and bruised Mufti Mubajje for allegedly selling all Muslim property in Kampala an other parts of the country. He once warned Mubajje that he will face the Muslims wrath when Museveni’s government falls which he said was protecting him as he sold off Muslim property.
Munyagwa tasted Muzaata’s verbal artillery when he held Duwa in the bush so that Museveni’s government could collapse. Muzaata said Munyagwa’s action was shameful to Muslims and their bitter exchange became a TV signature tune.
Kenzo was blasted Muzaata last year for not marrying his fellow musician Rema Namakula with whom he had sired a girl child. Muzaata used Rema’s introduction of her new hubby, Hamza Ssebunya, to tell Kenzo to go and marry his late mother. Even though Kenzo demanded for Muzaata’s apology, he deceased just laughed it off.
Katikkiro Mayiga also tasted Muzaata’s ‘unminced’ words when he collected over 100 million shilling in Butambala district during his fundraising drive dubbed Ettoffali. Muzaata castigated Muslims for contributing towards rebuilding Buganda yet their mosques were like ‘dog labour wards’.
