The Inspector General of Police- IGP, John Martins Okoth Ochola, has appointed counter-terrorism director, Abbas Byakagaba, as Ankore-Kigezi Zonal commander ahead of 2021 general elections.

Ankore-Kigezi Zone is among the 13 Zones that have been created by police leadership and passed by force’s Policy Advisory Committee- PAC purposely to ensure efficiency in response to security emergencies and criminality.

At the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police- AIGP, Byakagaba, has already take over his duties and has today started by making deployments intended to ensure no chaos is registered tomorrow in Mbarara City as National Unity Platform –NUP presidential flagbearer, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine, will be launching his manifesto.

After Army and Police frustrated his plans of launching his manifesto at NUP headquarters in Kamwokya on Tuesday after he had been duly nominated for next year’s presidential race, Bobi Wine, has since shifted the launch to Mbarara City.

AIGP Byakagaba alongside other leaders in the district and NUP members have resolved that the launch will be in Kakyeeka Stadium. Nevertheless, AIGP Byakagaba has warned NUP and other politicians not to cause chaos but also respect Standard Operating Procedures –SOPs intended to curtail the spread of novel Corona Virus Disease.

Bobi Wine who today attended the burial of political analyst, Dr Anas Abdoul Kaliisa, in Ruhaama, Ntungamo District, has reportedly spent the night in Mbarara City while his entourage from Kampala will join him early in the morning.
