Museveni Eulogizes Bantariza as a Trustworthy ‘Brother’

Bantariza succumbed to novel Corona Virus Disease –Covid19 at Mulago hospital in the wee hours of Tuesday morning

Uganda’s number one citizen, Yoweri Museveni, has eulogized the fallen Col Shaban Bantariza, as a person who was a trustworthy brother.

In his message delivered by Minister Kahinda Otafiire, Museveni described Bantariza as a dependable person who executed his work to the details.  “President Museveni said the death of the Late Shaban Bantariza was a loss of a brother, a son and a trustworthy person who executed his work perfectly in the interest of the people of Uganda,” said according to Gen Otafiire.

Bantariza succumbed to novel Corona Virus Disease –Covid19 at Mulago hospital in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. Till his death, Bantariza was deputy executive director government Media Centre.

In August, Bantariza attempted to contest for National Resistance Movement –NRM Western Region Vice Chairman but he was frustrated by Central Executive Committee on grounds that he had not resigned from his public service job.

Adolf Mwesige, the minister for Defence and veteran affairs, who was represented by the Joint Chief of Staff of the UPDF, said Bantariza was a professional soldier and a true comrade at work.

“The works and deployment of Late Col Bantariza give us the full meaning and character of a professional UPDF Officer, which is a testimony, that the professionalization effort of the UPDF has been accomplished,” said Mwesige.

Bantariza’s widow, Margret Bantariza spoke about her deceased husband as a person who dearly took good care of his family but above all dared to keep them united. Margret extoled, State House, UPDF, Uganda Media Center and doctors who fought hard to save his life.

The first son, Capt Ajabu Muhebwa, said the death of their dad marked a very dark moment in their lives. “He was a good dad, a mentor and indeed a teacher that always gave us the best guidance a parent can do.”
